Sudan Air Cargo Prioritization

List of priorities for air transport of cargo for humanitarian assistance

It was agreed by the User Group Committee on 18 August 2005 that prioritization of commodities should be as follows:

  • Priority 1:       Medical (Medicines and medical equipment which is too fragile for surface transport)
  • Priority 2a:     Interagency communication and IT equipment for MOSS compliancy
  • Priority 2b:     Communication and IT equipment

If capacity remains and must be utilized owing to aircraft leasing or loading requirements the following cargo shall be considered:

  • Priority 3:       NFIs, Shelter material, Sanitation and water equipment                       
  • Priority 4:       Generators, Spare parts
  • Priority 5:       Programme support, Staff support
  • Priority 6:       Construction material
  • Priority 7:       Office supplies, furniture 
  • Priority 8:       Fuel (as long as fuel available in local market)

NB. Further prioritization of items will be at the discretion of the User Group.  External mitigating circumstances, such as rainy season isolating areas, shall be taken into consideration.
