On 14th May, large scale fighting broke out in Abyei town between the SPLA and SAF forces.  The fighting has been sporadic but on-going since.  The population has fled both north and south of Abyei.

UNJLC has staff on the ground in the region, working closely with OCHA, the Resident Coordinator's Office and partners to effectively coordinate both the overall response and, particularly, the response for the Non-Food Item and Emergency Shelter (NFI & ES) Sector.

The most up-to-date information will be published on a regular basis in situation reports.  Please see below for the latest.  These situation reports are also disseminated through the Sudan NFI E-Mail List.  (Click here for information about subscribing to UNJLC's E-Mail Addresses).

If your organization has information they would like to share, please contact Sudan@unjlc.org.
