NFI & ES Sector Situation Report: ABYEI CRISIS - 28 May 2008

  • Today, 28 May, non-food items (NFIs) are being distributed to approximately 6,450 households in five locations: 2,000 households at the Agok airstrip, 1,000 households in Manding Jok, 1,450 households in Malual Aleu from ICRC, 1,000 households in Wauchin, and 1,000 households in Joljok.
  • Registration of IDPs continues in both Turalei and Agok. Final numbers are not yet available.
  • The findings from the RCO-Kadugli led mission to El Fula and Muglad were released today, 28 May. The report confirmed earlier statements that approximately 3,000 people from Abyei town and approximately 1,300 people from villages close to Abyei town fled in a northerly direction.
