• On 11th October OCHA reported that the humanitarian community in Uganda has received a US$ 6 million grant from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for emergency life-saving activities in response to the flooding that has severely impacted parts of eastern and northern Uganda. The grant is in response to a US$41 million Flash Appeal launched by the humanitarian community on September 21st.
• On 11th October the logistics team on the ground reported that:
Roads and bridges:
• Aguu Bridge: police limiting load up to 30 mt for heavy truck. No weigh bridge in place
• Report from Soroti indicated possible opening of Komolo to Katakwi washed section of road to traffic by cob 11/10/07.
• Road assessment ex Moroto to Katakwi and then Usuk accomplished and reported positive for loaded trucks to reach Usuk from Katakwi
District / Region:
• Pader: Agreement reached between Pader and Kitgum districts to open Pajule-Pader road section in weeks time
LOGS Cluster, UNJLC:
• The MI8 currently in country has been moving NFI for the past two days. CMRs from IFRC have been completed and cargo for UNICEF has been moved (School tenets). Detailed loading plans have been prepared for the two MI8s expected on Saturday.
• 32.1 mt has been airlifted so far, of which 16.5 mt NFIs and 15.6 mtn food commodities plus 201 passengers
• JLC released a new map - "Air Operation Overview". The map focuses on Soroti, Amuria, Lira, and Katakwi districts. Shows helicopter landing zones, airfields, towns/villages/IDP locations, and 10 nm air travel rings from Soroti.
