1. HIGHLIGHTS

The Bangkok Logistics Cluster is scheduled to take place tomorrow 16th May in WFP office to share with the humanitarian actor's latest information in logistics challenges for the operations in Yangoon.

 Warehousing space ha been identified in Bangkok and Yangoon. Cluster awaiting final approval.

2.  CLUSTER ACTIVITIES UPDATES:
The logistics cluster team in Bangkok identified a 4000 smt ad interim warehouse facility at the Bangkok airport  in collaboration with partners of the private sector ((TNT, Agility, UPS)  for  inter-agency  use.  The cluster is awaiting for the final approval of the proposed solution.

The logistics cluster in Yangoon also identified a warehousing space close to the Yangoon airport and is finalizing the contract of a shuttle fleet to move cargo from the airport to the warehousing area.

3. AIR TRANSPORT:

Updated information on cargo flights arrived into Myanmar has been compiled on the daily air operations report and made available on the cluster webpage. The logistics cluster appreciates the effort of the partners and is asking participants to continue to compile the suggested format (available on the web) and to provide related information.

 As reported today, 3  flights come into Yangoon:

  1. A DC 8 from the France Government carrying water and sanitation equipment and compact food.
  2. An IL76 from the Government of Germany and Switzerland carrying water and sanitation equipment and food.
  3. An IL 76 from UAE carrying DFID and WFP non food items.

4.    ROAD TRANSPORT :


World Vision reported on the 14th May the following time distances to reach the below mentioned locations from Yangoon:

1.    Yangoon - Kyayklat: 3 hours by road
2.    Yangoon -Pyapon: 3.5 hours by road
3.    Yangoon - Bogaley : 4.5 hours by road
4.    Malamyainekyuan: 1.5 hours from Pyanpon by engine boat
