1. HIGHLIGHTS

• The second Logistics Cluster meeting was held today 10th May in Bangkok.
• The Logistics Cluster Con-Ops has been presented and accepted by the cluster participants

2. CLUSTER ACTIVITIES UPDATES:

• The second Bangkok Logistics Cluster meeting was held today 10th May at WFP office. The Con ops of the cluster was presented and discussed with participants and eventually accepted ( See Con-Ops scheme)
• During the meeting a short brief Myanmar updates was provided by the cluster cell In Yangoon via telephone link.
  
• The Logistics Cluster informed participants that an interagency common transport service will be set up from a staging area in Bangkok. The service will be based on a Cargo Movement Request system. Cargo will be received and delivered based on the priority established on the ground on a pull system. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) will be sent to users explaining how the system will work.
• IOM is discussing with Thailand and Myanmar militaries in order to get a green light for a cross border land bridge. IOM and the Cluster will be coordinating efforts and activities to reach the aim of getting clearance for the use of the cross border corridor.
• The cluster will organize a pipeline type report for bilateral donations as well as cluster members’ pipeline plans. Rachida Abdelli (abdelli.rachida@wfp.org) will be the focal point for the collection of this information.

3. AIR TRANSPORT

• In order to be able compile information on cargo flights arriving into Yangoon the logistics cluster is asking participants to compile a simple format Spreadsheet providing information.
• An Antonov 12 sponsored by the Spanish Development Agency (AECID) and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affair arrived 10th May in Bangkok carrying shelter, wash and health items.
• A WFP charter flight from Phnom Penn arrived today in Yangoon carrying operational support equipment for WFP.
• ACF informed that a French Government flight will be arriving Sunday carrying 45 mt of WASH and medical equipment.\
• Bangkok airways have 3 daily flights for Yangoon and they will allocate 5 tons for free per flight to deliver relief aid. The Logistics Cluster will confirm duration for this “opportunity cargo” offer.
• IFRC has 10 mt of relief items on a THAI Air force flight to be handed over to the Myanmar Red cross
  

4. ROAD

• UNICEF reported that the cross border road between Thailand and Myanmar is narrow and closed one way every other day. ( On Myanmar side)
• Further to the information shared by IOM in today Cluster meeting, two trucks carrying UNHCR cargo have passed into Myanmar with approx 20 mt of cargo. While this is a positive development this does not signal the opening of a new corridor into the country and the logistics cluster will coordinate with IOM (and UNICEF/ UNHCR) to monitor the situation with road access and report.report any information we can obtain.
