Opportunities and Challenges:

  • Significant logisitcs challenges are expected.
  • Many NGOs have considerable presence on the ground (ACF, World Vision, Merlin, Care, World Concern, SCF ..)
  • The team,  while in Bangkok,  will start liaising with other organisations including the UNDAC team.
  • Information and procedures about landing supplies are being sorted out (especially for non bilateral aid) and will be shared with involved actors and through our website.

Strategic Air-shipments:

As Dubai, and probably Bangkok in a short while, are  likely  "common denominator" hubs for a number of organisations,  the Logistics Cluster propose to start coordinating shipments. Both for possible load consolidation as well as for landing and receiving coordination.

To this regard, plans can be shared to global.logisticscluster@wfp.org or laurent.blanc@wfp.org.
