• On 11th January IRIN reported that the closure of livestock markets in Kenya’s Northeastern Province after an outbreak of Rift Valley Fever (RVF) has hit livelihoods and the economy, which is almost entirely dependent on livestock. Most affected were secondary schools because many parents had found it hard to raise fees for their children to resume classes.
