  • During theĀ  offensive started on the 31st October, the rebel UNION of DEMOCRATIC FORCES for the RALLY (UFDR)/ Union de forces Democratiques pour le rassemblement (UFDR), attacked and conquered Birao, Ouadda-Djalle, Ouadda, Sam- Ouandja and Ndele and Bria situated at 650 km north-east of the capital Bangui.
  • At the beginning of the insurrection the CAR government accused the Sudanese to support the rebels. The accusation has been rejected by Sudanese authorities.
  • The CAR government started the counter-offensive against rebels on 27th November.
  • On 2nd December government troops recaptured the town of Sam- Ouandja, (800 kilometers /500 miles northeast the capital Bangui) after 6 days of counter -offensive supported by the French troops.
  • 5,000 civilians were reported to be living on the bushes and hundreds of civilian to be fleeing neighboring Sudan.
  • The army also recaptured Birao, near the northeastern border with Chad and Sudan and the town of Ouadda, 700 km northeast of Bangui.
  • Rebel Captain referred that around 3,000 people have fled the region towards Sudan from Birao.
  • On 3rd December rebels referred they left the town of Ndele (500 km/310 miles from the capital) but they still keep the surroundings.
  • On 5th December WFP CAR issued an urgent appeal for food aid because 150,000 people are believed to be living in the bush surviving on little more than wild food that grows around them. The conflict in northwestern CAR has pushed nearly 50,000 people across the border into refugee camps in southern Chad in the past four years.
  • On 7th December the Secretary -General issued a statement of concern about the worsening security situation in Darfur and the consequences for the wider region, including Chad and Central African Republic.
  • On 8th December press denounced fresh treats to media and the government officials blame the country's media for overly dramatizing the situation.
  • On 10th December with the support of French troops, the CAR army took back the control of Ouadda Djalle (700km/435 miles northeast of the capital), the last town that fell into rebel hands.
  • The northeast of the CAR is difficult to reach and humanitarian relief agencies are absent.
  • An appeal was launched on 5th December by the CAR government to maintain the calm in Pk 12 (north periphery of Bangui) due to some reported accidents that lead to the death of a Chadian military.
  • On 11th December newspapers are reporting that foreign rebels are using the CAR as a staging ground to mount attacks over the borders worsening the world's "gravest humanitarian crisis".
  • At least 50,000 residents are reported to have fled CAR to find refuge in Chad with starvation threatens hundreds of thousand who remain.
  • UN resident Humanitarian affairs coordinator PI officer told that some relief organizations had flown to Birao. Reports are expected soon.
