General Info:
Formalities for crossing have to be finalised in Mehran town at the Governor's office. The EP at Mehran has only been recently recognised as an operational EP by the GIRI. Despite the approximately 1 km deep no-mans-land and absence of customs faculties, the location has the advantage of being the closest EP to Baghdad and a direct link to Al-Kut and Karbala towns. On the Iranian side it can be easily accessed from Kermanshah (via Ilam) in approximately 3.5 hrs and is well connected to Bandar Imam-e Khomeini.
