Visa Requirements Syrian nationals with a valid passport can go back into Syria. Iraqis with a valid passport can go back into Iraq. Personnel/Vehicle crossing into Iraq is possible provided the driver has an authorization from the owner to drive the vehicle; the driver/vehicle is in possession of all its papers (i.e. called Mechanic in Syria); the international personnel is in possession of a visa (not required for personnel coming from Arabic countries). It should be explained that the vehicle and its passengers only want to transit through Syria.

This EP (also known as “al-Walid”) is an official UN SCR 986 EP. It is directly connected to Damascus and further to Lebanon and via Homs to the Syrian seaports. On the Iraqi side, the road links up with the Amman – Baghdad highway.
