Indian-Ocean: SRI LANKA - Accumulation of Relief Cargo at Colombo Port

At present there are 294 containers of relief cargo stored at the Port of Colombo according to the Sri Lanka Port Authority.

Of these:

  • 7 40 ft. containers belong to UNICEF
  • 11 to IFRC and 1 20 ft. container belongs to World Vision
  • 14 of the containers do not have any particular consignees and the remainder of the commodities are private donations.

 The Sri Lankan Navy carrying out security inspections at the port is now prioritising cargo handed over to the Department of Social Services according to port sources.
