VISA EXTENSIONS IN MEDAN, INDONESIA
The extensions of tourist visa’s that were used by humanitarian actors at the onset of the disaster is being made easier by the GOI however it is not yet entirely smooth. We understand that visa extensions can be obtained either in Banda Aceh, Medan or Jakarta.
To obtain an extension in Medan several people have successfully followed these steps:
- Give a letter from your organization in Indonesian explaining who you are, what you are doing, passport number. If possible put as many people from your organization as possible on the letter. The letter should be delivered to:
- Mr. Napitupulu, Kantor Divisi Imigrasi, Dept Hukum dan Hak, Jalan Putri Hijam (in front of Deli Plaza).
- Within 24 hours you should be able to collect a letter that you can then take to the immigration dept.
- Take the letter to the immigration office at Jalan Mangku Bumi 2. You will need to purchase a form from the photocopying office. Fill in the form and come back in about 24 hours to pick it up.
