Procedures for acquiring free truck transport of relief commodities through LOC

The Logistics Operation Centre (LOC), an inter-agency facility managed by UNJLC and tasked by the UNCT to coordinate the logistics operations of UN agencies in Sri Lanka, assists humanitarian relief agencies and NGOs in acquiring transport for the movement of humanitarian relief cargo out of Colombo. Trucks can be provided free of charge depending on availability.

Interested agencies and NGOs should please note the following:

  • Every field of the transport application request form (see below) should be filled out carefully.
  • The request forms should be sent by e-mail to Hollesen@unhcr.ch and to LOC_UN@yahoo.com by midday two days before the transport is required (i.e. by midday Monday for transport on Wednesday) to the LOC office.
  • LOC will then contact interested parties as quickly as possible and inform them whether there is any free capacity on that specific day.

LOC's contact person:

Name:  Mr Steen Hollesen

E-mail:  Holleson@unhcr.ch

Telephone:  268 9608

Mobile:   077 317 8568

NB: The Cargo Movement Request-Form is attached at the bottom of this document.
