1. Shamlai to the KKH
This particular section is mainly through the Batagram village. The road is narrow with tight corners and steep in certain places. The road condition for this section is variable. Distance: 2 km
Coordinates:
N 34. 40760
E 73. 01335

2. Bridge At Bazargay
The road was resurfaced at some point and is in good condition. However one section of the road is still a narrow 9ft matt road.

Distance: 7 km
Coordinates:
N 34. 68322
E 73. 03882

3. Bridge - Recently Constructed, High Level Bridge
The road here begins to show signs of deterioration and continues to remain tight in certain places.

Distance: 8.5 km
Coordinates:
N 34. 690030
E 73. 06935

4. Batamohri
Batamohri is as far as the WFP 10 wheeler trucks can reach. Beyond this point the road is suitable only for smaller 3 to 4 ton vehicles maximum as it contains tight switchbacks, deteriorated road surfaces, gullies, and wash outs.
Distance: NA
Coordinates:
N 34. 68816
E 73. 09503

5. Bridge - Damaged Brid
Road contentions remain poor and this particular bridge has collapsed on the downstream side. However, with caution, it is possible to cross this bridge on the upstream side.

Distance: 14 km
Coordinates:
N 34. 70338
E 73. 09503

6. Retaining Collapsed Wall
The retaining wall has collapsed on the downhill side of a 3 stretch switchback which is in generally poor condition.

Distance: 14.5 km
Coordinates:
N 34.70537
E 73.09685

7. Retaining Collapsed Wall
Road continues to be in poor condition and again the retaining wall has collapsed. Distance: 16.5 km
Coordinates:
N 34. 80705
E 73.10751

8. Bridge - Minor Cracks
Road descends down a series of
switchbacks and is subjected to small landslides. At the Shurnlej village bridge crossing there are small cracks in the foundations at the western end.

Distances: NA
Coordinates:
N 34. 70651
E 73. 11219

9. Shamlai - The Village Proper
Way point village was badly damaged by the earthquake and the road through this particular village reflects this.

Distance: NA
Coordinates:
N 34. 70770
E 73. 11523

10. River Ford - River Bed Crossing
Continuing on to Hill, the road becomes very narrow. There are points where there have been small landslides on the outer side of the road narrowing it even more. The road crosses directly through the river and even a small amount of rain would cause it to become impassable. There is an operating foot bridge which appears to have been used by smaller vehicles at some stage.

There are 2 tracks to Hill. The 'short cut' (waypoint 13) is shorter in both time and distance but is fairly rough. The longer of the two routes follows the valley for some time to Village Trangar before climbing up and heading back NE towards Hill. This portion of the road is a dirt track and hugs the cliff side, but other sections are flatter.

Distance: 20.5 km
Coordinates:
N 34. 69160
E 73. 12834

11. End of Track - Road Ends
The track ends here at the village of Hill. The last 3 km are 4 WD only.

There is an HLZ in this area at
N 34. 70207 E 73. 14511. The approach angle from down the valley is 190 degrees.

There is another HLZ at
N 34. 68942 E 73.13094, near the junction of the Hill. Short cut at waypoint 13.
Distance: 23. 5 km
Coordinates:
N 34 70358
E 73 14605

12. Broken Retaining Wall
The road descending into Shumlei Village has 3 switchbacks and the retaining wall here has crumbled. As a result, there have been some small land slides and the road is rutted.

Distance: NA
Coordinates:
N 34. 70750
E 73. 1099

General comments
The road is in generally poor repair, and after any rain or snow this track will become a 4WD track. Access to this village and area will be restricted during the winter months.
