Mozambique- Latest Updates 19th February 2007

  • On 16th February RELIEFWEB reported that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is launching an emergency appeal for 7.4 million Swiss francs (USD 6 million, EUR 4.3 million) to support the Mozambique Red Cross Society’s response to the devastating floods which have been affecting the country over the last month.
  • The same day RELIEFWEB also reported that the Irish Red Cross announced that it will send €30,000 in immediate aid to Mozambique where more than 88,000 people have already lost their homes as a result of devastating floods, and is appealing to Irish people to help fund this aid. The money being sent by the Irish Red Cross will be used to pay for urgently needed goods to help provide temporary homes for people affected, such as tents and clean water, as well as first aid kits to help treat the injured and sick.
