Meeting Minutes - 5 August 2006
Participants: UNICEF, WHO, WFP, UNJLC, ADRA, Save the Children, FEAL/GOxD.
· Action Points
1. All humanitarian actors requiring cargo movement should use the attached Cargo Movement Request form and send to UNJLC at lebanon.cargo@unjlc.org
2. All humanitarian actors are invited to share information, particularly on pipeline.
3. Any feedback/follow up on cargo movements can be addressed directly through UNJLC.
· Operational Update & Convoy Movement
- 1 convoy yesterday to Jezzine
- No convoys today due to mechanical breakdown of one of the current fleet of armoured escort vehicles
- 2 convoys planned for tomorrow, to Zahleh and Tyre (convoy to Nabatiye postponed)
- When planning, it should be noted that trucks cannot carry more than 10 Mt when moving to the south.
- Concurrence has been given for moving a closed truck with medicine from Arrida.
· Ship Movement
- 1 WFP vessel coming from Turkey, ETA 9 August, carrying wheat flour and pulses. WFP is looking into the possibility of stopping at Lathakia (to load other cargo) before proceeding to Beirut.
- Roro ship from Larnaca, ETA 10 August, carrying interagency cargo (food and non-food).
· Airlifts
- Second Portuguese Air Force flight to arrive from Brindisi today. Another two rotations are scheduled for 6 and 7 August.
· Other Issues
- The issue of convoy leader responsibilities was raised by WHO. Possibility of WHO staff member accompanying the cargo to consignee under discussion, to avert erroneous deliveries.
