Cargo Transport Procedure - Urgent guidelines !!
Many tons of aid has been coming into Larnaca airport without previous announcement through the UNJLC Cargo Movement Request (CMR) procedure, causing a backlog of goods in warehouses. It is imperative that users of this procedure file their CMR or submit pre-advice to UNJLC 48 hours before the arrival of the goods so the appropriate arrangements can be made in advance.
Improper and unsafe packing of relief goods entering Cyprus is causing a bottleneck at the airport and slowing down the pipeline. All cargo received must be palletized and shrink-wrapped or tightly strapped with a packing list on each unit. The correct procedures can now be found on this website.
Cargo Movement Requests submitted without key information will be returned for completion, causing delays in service for the requesting organisation.
Cargo submitted through the CMR without a clearly marked, accredited consignee cannot be accepted.
Cargo Movement Request forms and full procedures can be found at www.unjlc.org/lebanon/cargo. Requests should be submitted to lebanon.cargo@unjlc.org.
