Anamcara's last sailing
In response to the urgent need of transportation for aid destined for Lebanon, WFP chartered a 3,000 MT capacity Roro vessel "Anamcara", which operated between Cyprus and Lebanon, providing direct access to Beirut. With sea and air blockade now lifted and repairs to the airport allowing commercial flights to recommence, the need for this vessel has diminished considerably. The Anamcara therefore made her last sailing at the start of this week and was redelivered to her owners this morning (13/09/06). German C160 flights are planned to continue through September 19th to carry the final cargo from Cyprus to Beirut. After this date, the Logistics Cluster in Beirut, Tyre and Damascus will remain available to assist users with alternative options of transportation. - Lebanon, - Size: 4.9 kB
