Background

Due to the prevailing drought conditions in the Horn of Africa a logistic cluster has been established in the region.

The Horn of Africa divides itself into Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Erithrea & Djibuti, which are the key concerns for logistical activities.

On 6th of April 2006 the WFP Somalia decided to launch a meeting to discuss the logistics coordination for the Horn of Africa.

The Humanitarian Actors involved in the Horn of Africa Logistics Cluster are Care, CRS, UNICEF, World Vision, ICRC, Kenyan Red Cross, OCHA, OXFAM/Novib, UNHCR and WFP (chair).

Nairobi is the regional head office, supporting the logistical clusters of the country offices.
