UNJLC and GTZ Transport Survey
The heightened humanitarian presence in Liberia has created a need for clear information on those logistical services needed to support the provision of aid. At the same time, the instability of the recent months has resulted in confusion over the level of commercial logistical support available in the country.
In response to this problem, UNJLC and GTZ have carried out a survey of commercial transport companies in Monrovia, the key logistical hub for the humanitarian community. The fluidity of the situation in Liberia means that this work is iterative in nature and will be updated as and when necessary. As security constraints outside the capital subside, the survey will be extended to cover additional key areas of activity, while new companies commencing operations in Monrovia will be incorporated.
The survey provides full contact details for each company as well as a breakdown of both fleet composition and prices. Fuel and water tankers have been included in the survey and indicative prices, set by the National Tankers Union of Liberia, are laid out in a separate document.
Fuel Tankers and Fuel Price Survey
This survey is a study of the current capacity and cost of transporting fuel from Monrovia to various parts of Liberia. This survey also provides the general prices of petroleum products (namely gasoline, kerosene and fuel oil) on the local market.
Bus Survey
An assessment on buses was requested by the IOM (International Organization on Migration). UNJLC has conducted this survey both in response to the request of the IOM, and for the wider information sharing in the Humanitarian Community.
