Warehouses

The increasing influx of humanitarian aid into Liberia has resulted in a need for greater knowledge of storage facilities available in country. In addition, as improvements in security allow for the provision of additional aid beyond Monrovia, the need for warehousing space is likely to increase. To pre-empt this future need, and to provide a clear picture of the situation in what is the Humanitarian Community’s key hub, UNJLC has undertaken a survey of warehousing facilities in Monrovia.

This initial survey has identified 60 structures in the city, as well as an additional 40 in the Freeport complex. Efforts will be made to update the survey in accordance with changes in the market, while the process will be replicated for other Liberian cities when access becomes possible.

The first survey, downloadable below, includes details of 59 warehouses in Monrovia city, and another 40 structures located in the Freeport of Monrovia. Of these structures, representing over 76,500 m2 of storage space, over half were unoccupied at time of survey.
