Entry Points

Document Actions
Iran; Jordan; Kuwait; Saudi Arabia; Syria; Turkey.

General

At present, there are more than a dozen major land entry points (EP’s) into Iraq from the neighbouring countries of Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, three air entry points at Baghdad, Basra and Mosul, none of which are currently available for general commercial traffic, and two main ports, Umm Qasr and Basra.

There is one other unofficial entry point with Syria – Faysh Kabour, and several others with Turkey and Iran. There are also a number of other significant airports that may be open for traffic in due course.

It is probable that the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) may eventually decide to restrict entry to certain EPs and be very selective about opening airports to international or even domestic civilian or commercial traffic.

COUNTRY SPECIFIC INFORMATION:

The map below shows the entry points between Iraq and the respective neighbouring country.
