SYRIA LAND ENTRY POINTS

General

Syria has three major Entry Points (EP), namely Al Yarubiyeh/Rabia, Al Qaim/ Abu Kamal and Al Walid/ Al Tanf. These border points are being used for trans-border operations and all have customs officials available on a 24/7 basis.

The borders are officially open for commercial and humanitarian traffic. There is no customs presence at the Iraqi side of the borders, except at Al Yarubiyeh/Rabiah, where Iraqi customs presence was observed.

The Government of Syria has granted broad tax exemptions to the humanitarian community and improved customs procedures. These exemptions apply to humanitarian shipments only, and not Oil for Food cargo, which is considered commercial. However the Government of Syria has agreed to study these shipments on a case by case basis.

There is a fourth BCP in Syria at Faysh Kabour, which has the potential for cargo movements. Syrian authorities do not advise the use of this crossing point.

Syrian Entry Points (EPs) are graded from 1 to 3 (1 having the biggest capacity and strategic position)

Entry Points:
Al-Yaroubiyeh
Al-Qaim
Al-Tanf
