JORDAN SEA ENTRY POINT

General

The port of Aqaba is Jordan's sole outlet on the Red Sea. It is situated in southern Jordan on the north shore of the Gulf of Aqaba. The port has three sections – the main port, the container port and the industrial port. The main port has twelve berths, the Container Port has nine (including passenger berths) and the Industrial Port has four.

The Ports Corporation provide their own stevedoring services which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Normal working hours are from 07.00 to 14.00.

Aqaba Free Zone is located 18 km north of the port area and covers one million sq meters. This includes 25,000 sq meters of warehousing, 300,000 sq meters of paved storage space and a 600-tone cold store. Only cargoes manifested to the ‘Free Zone’ or ‘in transit’ are permitted to be kept in these stores.
