Road conditions
Most of the roads are in verry bad condition.
Reasonable good condition (Asphalte): Port-Au-Prince(PAP) to Les cayes , PAP to Jacmel/Marigot, PAP to Dominican Republique and PAP to St Marc. Gonaives to Cap Haitien (CAP).
- All other sections are in a very bad condition where any truck can pass
- Some small road in the deep country side will only be accessible by 4x4/ 6x6
No tunnels; No ferries; Bridges are OK, Floods should be look after due to cyclone in the region .
Licensing requirements and procedures:
International license or USA lisence are recognised.
Rental companies are available and small 4x2 light vehicule could be rented for a few days but no vehicules are reliable for field visit
Transport Costs
Inside Port au Prince and within 20 km , the rate would be from USD 10 to 15 Mt , but the rate would be about USD 35 for PAP to CAP up to USD 50. In fact Cargo to be moved from CAP to the country side in North North-East is paid about USD 15 to USD 25 depending on the road condition .
